Valentine's Day 2011

Feb 12 -- dinner at Dosa on Fillmore. After a 7 mile hike at Wildcat and a very nice 20 minute walk to dinner, we were plenty hungry. SF restaurants are finally hitting their cocktail stride. Les had an Indian twist on a Dark & Stormy, with Goslings, ginger ale, fresh ginger, lime juice and a sprig of fresh rosemary - forthy on top. I went for an updated classic, with Jameson whisky, ginger liquer and a hint of cardomom. Dinner was fantastic -- watchwords for the night were rich and oily. Started with spicy sweet scallops, beautifully seared with a pepper sauce. Moved on to duck paneer in a muddy thick brown sauce, followed by carmelized onion uttapam and prawns masala. Our waitress tried to hold us back but we couoldn't resist adding in some paratha to soak up all the sauces. We walked off the paratha (maybe one bite of it) on our way to Baker & Banker for dessert....
